Hi,
...i live in america. My wife and i have been married for 3 years now and are planning a trip back to the uk...(shes american,im british,i have a greencard and am in the process of getting my conditons removed)...she tried to come over and visit me for 4 months back in 2004.she flew into gatwick and had a lot of trouble getting through...infact they sent her back and gave her a stamp in her passport. their reasoning for this was that she was coming over for the healthcare.she is partially deaf and blind in 1 eye.they didnt belive she was deaf and blind,so got a doctor to confirm it....she was travelling on the visa waiver.now my question is this...its been more than 3 years since shes tried and we would like to know if she needs a visa to get through and what kind?also she applied for a visa shortly after being sent back and was denied.i know this is proberly the wrong board to be posting this on and i apologise...im just at my wits end trying to fiqure this out.we also have a little boy so i dont know what we need to do for him either.we just want to go and visit family for 3 weeks...does anyone think that might too long?
thanks in advance...once again i apologise for posting this here.
btw she wasnt coming over to use the healthcare.

Normally, US citizens do not need visas to visit the UK. However, in view of the previous refusals, it may be advisable for her to apply for an visitor visa before travel. She would have to convince the Immigration Officer (or the ECO) that she meets the requirements as a visitor.

If your child is also a British citizen, then he may apply for a British passport or a Certificate of Entitlement to the Right of Abode for his US passport. He may also travel to the UK as a child visitor on his US passport, probably without the need to apply for a visa.

It may also be advisable for the family to obtain travel insurance prior to traveling.
