Visit Visa - Changes For Chinese Citizens

Post by bamboozled » Tue Dec 15, 2015 2:56 pm

Hi,

I was just wondering if anyone had information on the upcoming changes for Chinese citizens in January. (https://www.gov.uk/government/news/pm-a ... sh-economy)

Does this mean Chinese people applying for the visit visa will get a 2 year duration with the 6 month visa being scrapped completely? Slightly confused about what exactly is changing and how it will affect applications

I was looking at applying for a visit visa for my wife to come over in February and unless I hurried the application through in the next week it looks like I will be getting caught up in the changes...

Cheers,

The way I see it it's still subject to the usual rules just you get one of 2 year validity usually reserved for those with proven travel record to UK.

Thanks, so that means each visit would still be a maximum of 6 months with the visa valid for 2 years?

The article is not clear but my guess is HO won't break the habit of a lifetime and let people reside in UK for a whole year or more under a visit visa. Opens up all sorts of cans of worms, taxation issues etc.

Ah that does make alot of sense, thanks for that!

I'm guessing my application will be refused whatever they do in January but that's another story
