Marrying while on Tier 2 visa

Post by NewBride » Tue Dec 22, 2015 11:25 am

Hi All,

I am on Tier 2 (general) visa in the UK, sponsored by my employer and hold a Biometric Residence Permit, allowing me to be in the UK for 3 years. I arrived in October 2015 and will be geting married in February 2016. My fiance holds a similar Tier 2 visa at the moment - he's been in the UK for about 3 years now.

I am wondering with the change in my marital status, do i need to apply for any changes to my existing Tier 2 visa as well?

Would be glad to hear any relevant experiences, please.

Thanks a lot!

It’s good to let UKVI about both your status that you are getting married to each other as you both live in UK with separate Tier 2 (G). Send a Change of circumstance form after your wedding and inform them with copies of your marriage certificate.

Apart from that if you consider to become a Dependant to each other, then you need to apply for a dependant visa – But this will reset your 5 year clock for ILR eligibility
