Tier 2 (General) extension COS start date / duration

Post by samJe » Fri Dec 25, 2015 2:06 pm

It would be great if someone could answer please

I am in Tier 2 General Company sponsored visa and after extension of next 3 years I may sort of couple of days to apply for ILR
Please clarify?

COS start date to end date: 3rd Feb 2014 to 3rd Feb 2016,
Visa granted 10 March 2014 to 2nd March 2016,
I traveled to UK 20th April 2014.

Now my employer wants to extend my visa,

Could anyone tell me how long should I extend my visa to be safer for ILR?

1) When extend the COS, what should the work start date in the COS is? 4th Feb 2016 or 3rd March 2016? (cos work end date or Visa end date)
2) How long my extended leave to remain would be? COS period + 15 days?
3) If I get three years extension is it enough to go for ILR? I could not fully understand / calculate the 'continues resident' with my dates in page 20 in the following document.

https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/s ... _clean.pdf

4) Since I have 4 dependants I am really worried (cost) about if the extension need to be 5 years?
(However I might need another PBS extension to the dependants as they joined me later -April 2015)

Thanks in advance

1. 3rd Mar should be fine.
2. Normally, its COS period + 1 month (There are exceptions of course!)
3. Yes, it should be okay. You can apply for ILR 28 days before your 5 year completion.
4. Yes, they will need another extension to complete 5 years.

I appreciate your reply "moonlight55" and thank you very much, am still waiting for Administrator to check my account 'samJe'

in the mean time if you could clarify the following

1) could you tell me what could be the valid 'Work End date' for the cos for 3 years ?

2) I checked the posts "In-country Tier 2 application timelines" some applicants got exactly 3 years of 'leave to remain' when they extended to 3 years

3) pls give some details, if I get the extended leave to remain till 3rd March 2019 what would be the earliest date for ILR application (just to know am safe)

4) yes thank you for the answer
