T1 Ent Extension to ILR. Do we need to pay £36K Salary

Hello Visa Guru's

Appreciate all your help with the queries that I have had so far.

I'm Entrepreneur Extension will apply for ILR next year.

1- DO we need to pay ourself salary of £36000 in UK to qualify for ILR ? I know this is required in T2 Visas not sure about Entrepreneur Visa.

2- Do we need to file the self assessments with HMRC for ourself as a director of the company ? I dont pay myself any salary from my UK business yet. SO I don't file any kind of personal NI or personal tax in UK. I get paid from other company I own in non eu country. Though I file all the taxes for all Employees in UK.

1- There are no rules requiring a salary threshold for Tier 1 Ent. Even the Tier 2 salary requirement is set at min £35000 and will be applied from April 2016.

2- You are legally required to file self assessment if you are self-employed or Director of the company when you receive any pay/benefits or if asked by HMRC even if you don't have any tax to pay.
The guy in that thread made the mistake of thinking that if your declare PAYE tax and have no other tax to pay, then you do not need to file self-assessment. That is clearly not true as you must file self-assessment when you get any benefits even if you have no extra tax to pay. Accountants often remind you that you need to file as a company director.
