No BRP but visa(Entry Clearence) on passport

Post by dheeraj1025 » Tue Jan 19, 2016 10:36 pm

Hi,

I am on Tier 2 General visa. My Wife applied for Tier 2 Partner visa from India.

She got Entry clearance visa on Passport. She came to UK and all is good.

Now we both are trying to extend Tier 2 visa.

There is a question in application Form:

Do you have a BRP(Biometric Resident Permit)? Should my wife say yes? She dont have any BRP card? All she have is Entry clearence visa? What should we answer?

Do we need to Apply for BRP first?

Any Advise will be helpful.

Some threads say, she need to have a BRP?
Her visa expiry is same as My BRP expiry. We don't remember whether we received decision Letter or not.

We are confused!

No, she doesn't have a BRP.

They will subsequently ask for her to apply for one, after her application for leave to remain is successful.

Thanks for the reply.
So, She does not need to have BRP.
We are applying for Extension now. Is she going to get one?
There is a question in Application for extension like "Do you have a BRP?" So, we need to answer No?
Some people are talking about collecting it from Postoffice, what is that about?

Thanks in advance.

Do I need to apply for BRP?

Post by dheeraj1025 » Wed Jan 20, 2016 10:46 am

Hi,

My husband is on Tier 2 General. I applied for Tier 2 Partner visa from India in March 2015. Application is successful and got stamped Entry clearance visa in my passport.

Visa Valid until date is same as my husband's Tier 2 Expiry date.

I am here in UK for last 9 months, I never applied or collected BRP from Postoffice?

Do i need to apply for one? or i will get BRP in my next extension of Tier 2?

Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Not required. You will get a BRP if you extend your visa from within UK.

Vinny said that she answers "no" because she doesn't have a BRP, and that she will then be told to have her biometrics taken for a BRP as she will need one for this extension.

Look at the blue link vinny gave on the word "BRP" as that tells you all about it and answers your questions.

Get a biometric residence permit (BRP) wrote:How you get a BRP

You don’t have to apply for a BRP. You’ll get one automatically as part of your visa or immigration application.

When you make your visa or immigration application you have to give the personal data that appears on your BRP.
