I have an indefinite leave to remain in the UK and I invited my mum over (from Nigeria). I put all my necessary details there including my bank statement. I stated clearly that i would be sponsoring all off her expenses and had the bank statement to show this.
She was however rejected. The officer said while he is satisfied with me sponsoring her we didnt adequately represent her current situation. We stated that she was a local trader. In the income section we put she makes £400 a month. This was a mistake and what we meant to put was that £400 was her working capital per month and the profit is about £80. She also has a house she uses for rent (we provided the plan)and makes about £50 per month. However her bank statement does not show this inflow of cash both for rent or business. She had about £700 in total. The reason is that local business in Nigeria is through cash in hand. She buys goods and sells them. They dont exactly use atm cards or online banking. She also has other dependents (my brothers and sisters) who she gives money to and supports (which was stated in the application).
I have been told we made a mistake talking about her business which we could not prove. That since i was sponsoring her fully it was not necessary. Now we want to reapply and we are not sure how to do this. We cant suddenly say that she has no business after stating she has one. Also in terms of the £400 we want to explain fully its not a profit and it was a working capital. Will this explanation be accepted or be seen has deceit?
