Can I earn money back home while on Tier 2 in UK?

Hi All,

I'm currently on a Tier 2 (General) in the UK.
Back home I own a photography business and so far I've kept it completely on hold but I have the opportunity to sell photos from this.

I'm aware I can't take second employment or work as a freelancer in the UK that conflicts with the Tier 2 rules on this but is there any restriction on earning an income back in my home country? I can't seem to find anything online for this information.

Am aware I would need to pay tax in my home country as well but would like to be able to make the sales instead of waiting until I possibly move back home.

Any help or advice is appreciate.

Thanks iworker. That's what I'd hoped. As I'm predominantly selling images online they can be purchased around the world but will go into a bank account back home, where tax back home will also be paid and the business is based etc.

I hoped this was the case as I am not employed or freelancing within the UK which seems to be the main issue for the Tier 2 visa.

I beg to differ, tax is due where the work is done, and the UK tax man being one of the most aggressive and getting more and more so, my advice is to consult a tax specialist as there are enough people on this board in a real tax mess!

It's an interesting one this day and age.
My business is based in another country, the material, online hosting is based in the same country. It is essentially sold through that platform so the 'work' in a way is based there. I'm just a form of communication in the process.

Similar to me taking photos in one country then selling them in another. The "work" is done in the 1st country I suppose but photographers aren't required to pay tax where the photo was taken.

Tax/Immigration/Visa rules are somewhat not up to date with modern day conundrums like this

Even if the rules are such, there is no way for hmrc to track the activity in a foreign bank account, particularly the OP is not claiming income/points for earning abroad.
