more questions about VAF4

Post by mischa » Sun Dec 09, 2007 9:28 pm

Hi again,

I have a few more questions regarding the application form VAF4, I am an Austrian citizen exercising my treaty rights in the UK. I have been here about 5 1/2 months and have obtained my registration certificate. I am about to sponsor my proposed civil partner to join me in the UK for settlement and to register our partnership. She is currently in the US waiting to apply once we have all the documents together...

Now where it says:

6.2.7 Sponsor’s normal country of residence

> Should my partner put AUSTRIA or UK? Am I considered a resident of the UK already or not?

6.2.10 Sponsor’s permission to live in the UK

> What should she put there? Registration Certificate? or EEA citizen? or something else??

6.2.11 When did they get this permission?

> When did I get this permission? Date of registration certificate issue? or date the UK started allowing EEA citizens into the country to exercise treaty rights? (if that's the one, what is the date??)

6.4.5 How often do you meet?

> We have been living together for the entire course of our relationship, up until 2 weeks ago when she had to return to the US to wait to apply to join me. What should she put there?

6.8.11 Do you receive income from any other sources, including friends or family?

> She doesn"t actually receive any money from her family, but they have written a letter saying that they would support her/us if need be and included their bank details. Should she put YES/if need be or simply say NO?

6.8.13 Do you intend to work in the UK?

> Obviously she isn't planning on working in the UK until she obtains her work permit, should she therefore say NO, or YES/when I get permission?

By the way, a friend who used to be my partner's manager in the US, who also lives in the UK, has written a letter saying that she would employ my partner if need be. She will include that letter as supporting evidence as well.

6.9.1 What is your sponsor’s National Insurance number?

> I have the appointment, should she therefore put "pending" or something like that?

6.9.5 When did they start this job?

> I officially started working at my first job (I have two jobs at the moment) on 1st August 2007, however the work contract says 17th July with a note saying that actual start date may be different. Which date should she put?

6.9.12 Does your sponsor receive income from any other sources, including friends or family?

> I do not, however my mother recently deposited GBP 1000 into my account for the application fee etc.. and she stated that in her support letter and also that she would offer a helping hand if need be. The deposit obviously shows up on my bank statement.. should my partner therefore say YES, although it was a one time early Christmas present.. or would that not be considered income?

6.9.13 Does your sponsor have any savings, property or other
income, for example, from stocks and shares?

> My bank account is not a savings account, should we therefore not state any savings.. I do have money in the account right now, but actually there won't be any left once I pay for the application fee. So she should probably put NO then, right?

7.1 Is there any other information you wish to be considered as part of your application?

> What do they expect there? Is there any advice you can give us?

And just one more question..

Should she include my passport as well, or is the registration certificate enough?
