I hope this is the correct place for this thread and hope some one call help me.
If a Belgian national in the UK wants to apply for his recently born son's nationalization - how does he go about this???
So far I got;
1) The person has to register as quoted below;
Where does he register in the UK??? The consulate in Manchester or in London???"If you are already abroad, you may request that your name be struck from the population register of your municipality by sending a letter to your local municipal authorities, either in Dutch or in French. In principle, you should enclose proof of being settled abroad (e.g. in the form of a certificate issued by the local authorities or by a Belgian embassy or consulate, a copy of your local residence permit, or such like."
More importantly - HOW does he register??? I just cant find this information??? and consulates are very slow to pick the phone up - PLEASE HELP!!!
2) Once he registers what are the documents he needs to send
So far I got this - is this correct???
Bear in mind He is applying for his son who is only a few months old - is there anything else he needs?"When you register, you will be asked to produce the following documents:
• A 'model 8' form if you have come from Belgium, or some other proof of deregistration, such as an inscription by your municipality on the back of your identity card stating "struck from the register in [name of country]";
• Your Belgian identity card, as issued by your municipal authority, consulate or embassy;
• The registration form either in Dutch or in French duly filled in, dated and signed
• A photocopy of your passport;
• An inscription form for the federal elections either in Dutch or French and aproxy form, if applicable in Dutch or French.
Since the nature of the documents required may differ according to the local situation, we would recommend that you contact your embassy or consulate beforehand."
Please advise
Many Thanks in advance
Kind Regards
