Hi,
I am currently applying for a Tier 2 visa and plan to begin work in the UK in early April.
I have recently learned that I am eligible for Irish citizenship through my Grandparents. As the process of applying for this can be lengthy, I plan to rely on a UK visa for my work in the UK initially but then apply for Irish citizenship later this year.
My question is: How would attaining Irish citizenship during a Tier 2 visa affect my situation? E.g., would it effectively cancel out my Tier 2 visa, given that Irish citizens have the right to work in the UK indefinitely?
I have asked the UK Visas service but they wouldn't answer the question or did not know(?!).
Any help would be much appreciated, thanks.
