Scrap the £35k threshold for non-EU citizens settling in UK

Post by damnmad » Sat Jan 16, 2016 5:24 pm

Sorry If this is not the right section to post this!

Sorry if it is already posted, just reply with link to original post I'll delete this.

In April (2016) the Home Office and Theresa May are introducing a pay threshold for people to remain here, after already working here for 5 years. This only affects non-EU citizens that earn under £35,000 a year, which unfairly discriminates against charity workers, nurses, students and others.

Please sign this petition if you are against it! Thanks!

Members should be aware that this only applies to Tier 2 (General) visa category, and the Tier 2 (Minister of Religion) and Tier 2 (Sportsperson) visa categories.

Well. Reading about it it seems like this 35K threshold would be detrimental not only to tier 2 workers but also to the UK economy in general. I wanted to share a couple of links here, as there is already a debate set for the 7th of March and people are being encouraged to write to their MPs and keep supporting the initiative
