Employment history for divorcing homemaker

Post by Mie » Wed Mar 02, 2016 12:08 pm

Hello,

I have been a homemaker married to my British husband and living in the UK for the past 14 years on an ILR visa, we are separating and I would like to apply for citizenship. As I am unemployed and have no tax history would I be refused citizenship if I applied after we divorce? I will have enough from the settlement to support myself while I go to school and find employment, is there a way to show that on my application or would I need to? Thank you for your help.

Employment isn't a requirement for BC. State 'unemployed' or 'homemaker' on the application.
