Tier 2 Dependant length of stay in India

Post by Mouni3 » Sun Feb 21, 2016 11:03 am

Hi,

I am currently in UK on Tier 2 dependant Visa originally came from India. I am 6 months pregnant now and my baby due date is in June.
I am thinking where to have the delivery either in India or in UK.
If we want to plan in UK we haven't started funds maintaining in India for my mother. So is that ok if we start funds maintenance from now in India in my mother account. Also how much do we need to maintain...
If we want to plan in India, how long can I stay in India as a pregnant and after giving birth. Please suggest.

Also please kindly suggest me some thoughts which idea would be better...to have baby in India or in UK.

Thanks...

Congrats! A few points to consider as below,

1. If baby is born in the UK, then baby is privileged to register as British once either of the parents are granted ILR.

2. Family support, convenience etc.

3. If you consider bringing your mother to the UK, depending on who is sponsoring her trip, the maintenance funds can be shown from your husband's (the main Tier 2 applicant) account if he is sponsoring the trip.
Regardless, it is the responsibility of your mum (the applicant of the visit visa) to prove she has strong ties back to her home country such as property, funds, other family, so she has reason to return after her trip here.

4. If the choice is to have the baby in India, there is no restriction on the amount of time that can be spent in India, as long as it is within good reason and an intent to return to the UK.

Good luck.
Cheers,

Hi @Mouni3,

Did you decide on something for this? asking as I am facing the same situation as yours :)

Also I checked on the procedures for birth registration, Indian passport and visa for child. Seems its difficult to get these all when you give birth outside UK, though may not be totally impossible. If given birth in UK, then it would hardly take about a month and half , with minimal documents I guess.

Please inform your findings if any so that it helps deciding.
