a weird one involving brazil and germany - please help

hi guys

i have a friend who has the following problem

she was born in brazil

her grandfather on her dads side was german

however, her mum and dad never got married - she was born out of wedlock

but her dad is listed on her birth certificate (his father was german)

is there anyway she can apply for german nationality?

any help would be greatly appreciated
