Would an application for ESTA affect a future B2 visa?

Hello everyone,

I was thinking to go to Houston next month to visit my family and perhaps on a cruise to the Caribbean which I've wanted for a while.

My question is, would applying for ESTA and travelling to America for about 20 days affect any future application for a B2 Visa (6 month visitor) ?

I'm not 100% sure I will apply for a B2 visa, but I do have it on my mind so that I can go from September and travel in the US extensively, and potentially also apply to unis for masters there.

Would there be any complications? Will they not let me get a B2 visa because I will already have traveled to America in the same year or something?
