Umbrella IT contractor meeting the financial requirment

Post by rahanjaa » Fri Mar 11, 2016 5:23 pm

hi ,
i am new to this forum and it seems like a very good and helpful forum, hence why i signed up and am now posting.

i needed some help , soon i will be applying for my wife's spouse visa so that she can come over to the UK and we can be together.

i am not 100% clear on the financial requirement, personally i think i meet the requirement, but have some doubts. I am working as a contractor via an umbrella company and have been so at the same organisation for 15 odd months, so the 6 months length requirement is covered. My day rate is £100 and i work on average 20 days per month, however a few months back i had an operation on my knee and missed 5 weeks and 3 days of work. I did get SSP and i understand this period can be discounted from my application , but how? will i add those 5 weeks and 3 days onto the 6 months?..

Also my payslips show my gross income after deducting expenses and company deductions. for example :

£100(rate) x 20 units (days worked) = £2000 (i though this should be my gross)
-minus expenses say £500
-minus company deductions say £300
=GROSS INCOME = £1200
= Net INCOME = £1700

what worries me is, how will they assess my application, and how they will interpret the payslips. Will they take the field GROSS INCOME as my monthly gross? because thats not really my gross.. i hope i am explaining this well enough .. i am sure they assess many applications from contractors but what is not clear in the financial requirement document is how they derive the gross figure.

if anyone can shed light on this issue i would be very grateful.

thanks :?
