Tier 2 (G), redundancy

Post by hereff » Fri Mar 18, 2016 8:41 am

Hi, I'm on Tier 2 (General) Visa now, however my company plan to make lots of redundancies and I'm at big risk to lose my job. My question is, if I change my visa to Tier 4 and continue my study instead, will it count if I want to apply for 10 years long residence application for ILR later? What if my switch fromTier 2 and Tier 4 is not continuous? eg. I'll be fired in April while my Tier 4 visa only out in August. Thank you.

It all depends on how fast your curtailment letter comes out. If it takes a month then plus the 60 days it just might get you through to the point where a CAS can be issued.
However given your position at the moment there is every chance you will struggle to get a CAS as any reasonable college / uni will question your intent to study.
You will almost certainly be selected for HO interview and one little sniff of not being a genuine student will end up in a refusal.

If there is any possibility of finding a new Tier 2 Sponsor?
That is the safest route going forward.
