good charcter requirement

I have a question. I came in UK 2002 and applied asylum. I asked for voluntary departure and I left UK voluntarily in October 2007. I came back to UK as a spouse in July 2010 and had my ILR in August 2012. I applied for nationality in March 2014 but refused because I had 3 points through the court on my driving license in November 2011. I have no other convictions. Am I eligible to apply for nationality again. can someone explain what's the illegal status where applicant have to wait for 10 years? Do I have to wait until October 2017 to apply nationality? please reply in detail. thank you in advance

Your situation is a bit complicated. There are some who have managed to become naturalized as spouses even with the good character requirement. I think the tricky bit here might be the 3 points on your license. Did you declare that on the application that was refused?

thank you for coming back. yes I declared 3 points when I applied naturalisation in March 2014. application was refused on basis of 3 points and in refusal letter it says that I can apply for British nationality again after November 2014 is the circumstances are same. my concern is they changed the good character requirement in December 2014. I was in the country between 2002 and October 2007 and I had no convictions and I never missed anything. I went back to my country in October 2007. my question is does 10 year starts from 2002 or 10 year starts from 2007? sorry if I am not clear
