Visa National Travelling without Spouse - problems?

Hi there,

I am South African and currently on a spousal visa - previously on a work permit.

I am planning a trip back to SA in April but unfortunately my spouse cannot join me.

Would this be a problem on re entering the UK? Will they be asking loads of questions about why my spouse isn't travelling etc?

It shouldn't be a problem as spouses may arrive alone, to join their partners in the UK.

thanks for the reply - I thought that because it shouldn't make a difference seeing as circumstances might prevent couples travelling together.

Strictly speaking South African citizens are not visa nationals, i.e. they do not require visas to enter the United Kingdom as visitors for periods of less than 6 months.

Visa nationals would be citizens of countries who require visas to enter the UK under any circumstances.

His Spouse Visa, I would never enter as a visitor - and make a point of checking the stamp in my passport

I wasn't suggesting that the person enter as a visitor, just pointing out the incorrect use of the term "visa national".

You should'nt have a problem. I have travelled by myself back to SA and had no problems coming back.
