PR and after BC without WRS at all

Post by laidbakc » Tue Oct 20, 2015 11:03 am

The topic might have been covered already somewhere, but I had struggled to find it.

I am A8 national came to UK in 2008 as student and was working part-time as well. My employer never said I was needed a WRS, so I knew nothing about it. I have registered my National Insurance and was paying some taxes. Now I worked for the same employer upto Feb 2011, and obviously after May 2011 Scheme was discontinued so when starting a new employment in July 2011 there was no need for WRS anymore.

Now my question is: If I want to get PR and British Citizenship after shall I wait until May 2016 to get clear 5 Years without having WRS? Or will it be irrelevant? Also by not Registering to WRS at all (as I had no clue one existed) can it backsplash on me today?

Can somebody please share their thoughts please!!

So yeah, I have to wait then, but is there any penalty I can incur with regards not to be registered back in time, or as the scheme is not valid anymore that will be irrelevant?

I remember reading somewhere for PR or BC application it says that you should have not been broken any immigration laws in 10 years time which WRS might be part of? Is it correct or again irrelevant as the scheme is obsolete?

You will qualfy in May 2017.

They cannot use the WRS to impose 10 years ban, as you were not subject to the immigration rules.

I guess you mean May 2016? What is this five year period anyway?

No I don't mean May 2016.

You will get PR then, but you will need to wait a further 1 year to qualify for citizenship, and hence the view i expressed.
