Resident card supporting evidence - help!!!

Hi,

Just joined this forum and don't know if I am using it he right way. I just realised that I need a resident card in order to apply for naturalisation and my heart sank when I read about the supporting documentation that is required...

Does anyone know if I need to supply all the documents that are listed to prove "relevant EEA national's activity as a qualified person" or just one or the other?

* Letter from each employer confirming the dates you [...] worked for them, salary/wages, normal hours of work, the reson the employment ended (if relevant)

* Wage slips and/or bank statements showing receipt of wages (this must cover each job you have [...] held during the relevant qualifying period)

* P60s for each year in which you were [...] employed

I moved house a couple of years ago and can only find last year's P60. Guess I threw the other ones out thinking they were out of date.

You will need to show you (if EEA national) or your sponsor (if you have one/need one) has exercised treaty rights continuously, as a qualified person, for 5 years in UK.
And that any absences from UK have been within prescribed limits.

You will need good (if not unimpeachable) documentary supporting evidence to back your case. In other words don't give HO any 'wriggle room'.
So a mix of documents (not necessarily all those examples you quoted) will be required to prove your exercise of treaty rights, your residence in UK & ofcourse your identity.

btw - first rule of immigration is: always look ahead & plan ahead for your next application - so you won't be caught 'with pants down'.
And keep copies & scans of all official documents 'for ever' (after all, they have been issued for a purpose);
similarly keep any/all previous applications for reference and consistency with future applications (& in case of any dispute with HO).

Thanks so much! I really have nothing to worry about in terms of my circumstances and conditions. I've been in the UK as an EEA citizen (from Sweden) for + 20 years and worked continuously for the past 17.

I really freaked out as I have not kept any backdated paperwork relating to work (aiming for an non-cluttered life); I only have 1 1/2 years worth of pay-slips and one P60. My wages have always been paid into my bank account though, so I guess I could always send them bank statements. Also, I could ask the two employers of the past 5 years to write me a letter confirming that I was employed (stating hours and salary) with them hoping that the HO will accept that as sufficient proof. Maybe I could ask the Inland Revenue for a confirmation that I've been paying tax for the past five years?

One more question if that's ok. Do I need to send every single monthly wage-slip for the past five years? It's going to way a ton!

Åsa, for even less stress I recommend green tea.

De-cluttering is fine, but not for immigration-related matters.

You don't need every payslip ever, just a sample.
Yes approaching employers for any records or letters they can send is a good idea and will help your case;
who knows, they may even have copies of P60s for you.

And, yes, do contact HMRC for your tax & NI records.

Don't forget you have to prove your residency in UK, absences within limits and your identity as well as proof of treaty rights.
So follow the guidance in the form and PR guidance notes on that.

Once last thought, check your original passport used to enter UK for first time back in 19-forgotten.
You may have been stamped into UK and granted ILR (under old rules).
If so you will have been settled already wihout even realising.

HO will try to accurately calculate when you acquired PR, rather than working on your chosen 'qualifying period'.

For my DCPR application I sent P60's and a few random payslips for the years 2009-2014. I also included a letter from my employer stating that I had been employed by them since June 2007. The caseworker completely disregarded the P60's and payslips for calculating the PR date and went solely from the letter instead. My PR date was therefore (correctly) calculated as June 2012.

It's going to way a ton!

I sent my entire bundle including the application in a padded C4 envelope, it weighed over 300g and cost £7.25 to post by Royal Mail Special Delivery

I suggest you apply using an old EEA3 form, it's much simpler and only 12 pages instead of 85:
