If you are a British Citizen who was born in the UK, your son is British by descent and therefore has the right of abode in the UK. He can apply directly for a British passport and enter the UK on it without hassle.
Passports applied for from abroad can take a while to process so if he needs to travel urgently it may be quicker to apply for a COA (Certificate of Entitlement to the Right of Abode), which is usually issued quicker but is also more expensive than a passport.
Or else he may be able to enter visa-free and then apply for a passport from inside the UK (?).
