Spouse VISA application - Advice on certain issues

Post by ashtag06 » Tue Apr 05, 2016 10:51 am

Hi Everyone,

Me and my partner have been married since February and have been together for three years. We first met when I was working in Singapore, my wife is a Singaporean national. She went to work in Spain (where she still is), I am now back in the UK working and earning over the required threshold.

However I am concerned of applying without every single detail being perfect, as I am worried that the >£1,000 fee will be taken even if rejected, is this the case (we are looking at the 1 day turn around option).

Other points:
- I currently live with two other guys in private rented accommodation, there is a fixed lease until early November. I am yet to ask, but I doubt the landlord would allow my wife to live with us for the remaining period of time. I have a double bedroom (although not huge), I have read that I would also need to have the room audited to prove it is suitable for 2 people to live in - is this necessary?? We would be looking to move in just with her after the lease ends anyway.

- Alternatively I could put down my mother's home address, where there is more than adequate space for us. However I work in Brighton and she lives in Lincolnshire, would they look into the fact my work is very far away from my place of residence?

Would really appreciate what seems to be all of your combined, expert advice. The Gov websites make it extremely difficult to get any proper support.

I believe we can provide all other required information, it is just this which provides a stumbling block.

Thanks

Ash
