Indian Passport and UK issued BRP- where can i travel?

Dear Travellers

We want to travel to for 7 nights, im British, my wife is Indian living with me in UK with a UK biometric residence permit, we have an Indian marriage certi.

where can we travel local (pref Europe) without a schengen visa or any other visa?

or what visa can we get easily, ie turkey evisa is easy to get, however Im scared of visiting Turkey at the moment.

Why not apply for a Schengen visa? As the spouse of a British citizen, your wife is entitled (i.e. can not be refused) to a Schengen (or any other EEA country's) visa, no hotel reservation or flight details required. The whole of Europe is your oyster.

In theory, your wife can accompany you anywhere within the EEA without a visa. However, airline staff may not be au fait with the nuances of EU laws and may stop you from boarding the flight. It is better to get the Schengen visa in advance.

Here is a list of countries that Indian citizens can travel either visa-free or with visa-on-arrival.

As an aside, the cheapest way to see Istanbul is if you fly to India with Turkish Airlines. You can have an upto 24 hours layover each way. And the luggage allowance is 40kgs.

However when I try apply for a schengen visa, it is quite long, they ask for the below for Greece,Italy, France etc:

"The applicant shall present each of the supporting documents (including the passport, the UK residence permit and previous Schengen visas) with the visa application

Please complete the Online Application Form, ensure it fully completed and signed in both places indicated. Please ensure you print and bring the completed form with you when attending for your appointment

Passport (original + photocopy of passport bio data page), with at least 2 blank visa pages, valid for at least 90 days beyond the return date of the trip and not issued more than 10 years ago as of the date of return from your scheduled trip. The same applies to passports issued more than 10 years ago that have since been extended. In addition photocopies of previous (last 3 years) Schengen visas need to be provided, if any. When applicant opts for passport collection, then an extra photocopy of passport bio data page needs to be provided.

UK residence permit (original + photocopy - If card type please copy both sides), valid for at least 90 days beyond the return date of the trip to the Schengen Area.
One (1) photo is required (See Photo Specifications page above). Photos that do not comply with these standards will not be accepted.
Fully paid return travel tickets: If paid through a travel agency, then receipt, invoice or payment confirmation should be provided
When travelling by car, please provide driver’s driving license, car registration, car insurance and travel tickets (ferry or Eurotunnel) showing the car’s registration number and passengers’ names.

Original certificate that proves the relationship of the applicant with the EU citizen (marriage certificate, registered partnership contract, family status certificate etc.). Please note that the marriage or the partnership needs to be registered with the competent authorities. Marriages between a Greek citizen and a third country national need to be registered with the relevant Municipality in Greece according to the Greek legislation). In case the marriage certificate or the registered partnership contract has been issued from another country (other than the UK) an apostille stamp is needed or legalization from the relevant Embassy, in case the country is not a member of the Hague Convention
Passport of EU family member - original + photocopy.
Proof that the applicant is accompanying the EU citizen or is going to join them (confirmed flight booking or ticket)."

could you please give advice on how to get a shengen visa without having to show fully paid flights/hotels, Ive tried via agencies, and they ask for just as much documentation.

Why limit yourselves - live big!
Bhutan, Fiji, Macau, North Cyprus, Senegal and various S. American countries & Caribbean countries are all visa-free for IN nationals.

if money wasn't a factor, then I would go places like Bhutan, Thailand, Maldives etc, where a visa isnt required. I need something cheap and cheerful like Greece or Portugal etc.

Apologies in advance if I shouldn't post on this thread, but wondered if you had managed to get a Schengen visa without showing the return flight tickets etc. I'm in almost the same situation as you, British married to an Indian, and we're wanting to travel asap. I'd originally thought we wouldn't have any issue travelling but now it seems we need to get the Schengen visa.
