Husband becoming british Citizen -what happens to wife'sVISA

Post by dhruv26186 » Mon Apr 11, 2016 9:29 pm

Hi Team,

I have entered to UK in 2009 through tier 2 ICT visa and later in 2014 i have moved onto ILR as i completed 5 years. Later in 2016 i applied for British Citizenship which got Granted successfully.

My wife joined me in UK in Sept 2013 through ICT Dependent VISA which got renewed further in Mar 2015 and will run till Mar 2018

So my queries are below. Can someone please help me?

1.As i became British, Can my wife apply for ILR now? OR does she need to spend 5 years to qualify for ILR and then only she can apply?

appreciate some guidance.

Regards,

5 years residence required. As a spouse of a BC she would be able to apply for British citizenship immediately after being granted ILR. That's assuming she meets all the standard requirements.
