IHS charges for ILR dependent applying from India

Post by Krissssss » Wed Apr 13, 2016 11:13 am

Hi There,

I am on UK ILR visa and creating application for my wife in India selecting Settlement, Settlement, Wife Option from Visa4UK website. I submitted form and on Pay for IHS page, it asked me details of my visa. I entered my ILR visa validity and based on that system calcullated IHS charges as 1800 (200 per year for next 9 years).

I have heard that after 5 years she will also get her ILR. Happy to pay £1000 for 5 years but

1.) Is there anyway I can save some money?
2.) If I have to pay 1800 now does anyone knows if after 5 years can I reclaime £800?
3.) Application at this stage is not allowing me to go back and change any thing in IHS calculation? Is there any way to start calculation again?
4.) Can I start my wife's visa application with different id again?

Appreciate if someone can spare some time and help with this situation.

Thanks in anticipation.

Your wife should select 'applying alone'. It appears to be including you in the calculation.

That's not right. You should only enter you wife details as if it was her filling in the forms. You shouldn't add your details as it's assuming you will be applying and calculating IHS for you.

It's should be £600.

Hi Guys,

Many thanks for your time...

I am not able to go back and change the options for IHS calculations. Looks like system stored the details on application.

Can you please reply me on my question on Point 3 and 4.

Can I Do fresh application for my wife?
Is it possible to speak to some one from UKBA and get this calculation reset?

Thanks.

Regards,
Jigar

I believe your best (and perhaps only option) would be to apply again with a different ID.

Hi Guys,

Thanks for the advise. I have now created a new application for my wife. But, again at the IHS page it's clearly mentioned -

Are you applying to join or remain with a person already in the UK? - Then Add this person's details.
You don't need to add this person's details if they are a UK or EEA citizen.

Now, I am on my ILR visa. Is it acceptable to not adding my details. If I add my details, from my visa validity the amount will be calculated as 1800 GBP.

What is the best option not to pay 1800 GBP if anyone knows?

Thanks in anticipation.

Hi Kriss,
My wife is facing similar situation like yours, IHS charge was 2000GBP based on my PR validity.

How did you sort that out?

1.Did you create a fresh application with a different ID and was the application successfull?
2. What did you fill for the following:
Are you applying to join or remain with a person already in the UK? - Then Add this person's details.
You don't need to add this person's details if they are a UK or EEA citizen.

Urgent response would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Hi,

I am exactly in same situation, and while filling the application in visa4uk site, it take me to UK Gov site to pay IHS, which is calculating as 170,000/- INR, I have no idea is this is the total Visa application or just the IHS charge. If only IHS how is this calculated instead of 600GBP.

I have got ILR in 2014, valid till 2024, and applying for dependent visa for my spouse.

Thanks
AJ

you need to ignore this part " Are you applying... " without clicking on it when paying IHS charges from outside UK otherwise it will always show you wrong amount..many people click on it and then this process cannot be reverse until you start application again from zero
