Indefinite leave to remain extension

Post by yule » Wed Jan 02, 2008 3:32 pm

The husband of my friend has been granted a 2 year extension on his visa when he applied for his indefinite leave to remain.

bit of a stupid question (but need to be sure).

Can he go on a holiday abroad or will that void his UK visa?

If he can go is there a limit on the amount of time he is away from the UK?

Hi,

Can you clarify that your friend's husband was on a spouse visa and was given a further 2-year visa instead of ILR?

Did your hubby include a pass certificate for Life in the UK Test or ESOL Leve 3 pass certificate?

If NO, then that is the reason.

My friends hubby made the application but did not send the original certificate as he was still waiting to recieve it through the post. Instead he sent a correspondence letter that he recieved confirming passing the test.

However from what I understand, the original certificate has to be sent with the application for them to make a proper decision.

I think that is the reason why he has been given an extension visa so that he can obtain the certificate and reapply.

Question is, can he go away for a holiday with this extension visa or does he have to remain in the country until he gets his ILR granted?

Really strange that the certificate is coming through the post. Usually the certificate is given immediately to the person after the test.
In a few years time we'll look back on immigration control like we look back on American prohibition in the thirties - futile and counter-productive.

Interesting comment dawie was not aware of the certificate being handed immediately after the test. it definetely sounds logical.

I will ask my my mate again.

Thanks again
