recognition of degree taught in English

Post by SimonW » Mon May 09, 2016 7:14 pm

We are applying for the spouse settlement visa but this morning I withdrew her appointment for tomorrow because of concerns about the new regulations regarding English language requirement. I had always assumed her degree taught in English (from University of Assam) was sufficient (somewhat taking things for granted since we have always communicated in English) but it now seems that a mere certificate is no longer good enough. And searching online I find many cases of people whose degrees were not recognised by UKnaric. I presume I do have to go through them. On what grounds can they 'reject' it? And if so, having established on my application for which I've paid that we are using her degree as proof of language requirement, would I be able to then submit an English language test as evidence?

NARIC has a new service specifically for evaluating degree comparability - VisasAndNationality

You could also refer to a list of universities in an older forum thread, however this may be out of date.
