You need to get Indefinite Leave to Remain first before you can even think about British citizenship.lost_in_wonder wrote:Hi,

Depending on when and how your father obtained his British citizenship, that might help you. Can you provide more details on that? Was it before you were born? Your father must have got it by registration, not naturalisation. Is it because he was ethnically non-Chinese and got it under the special scheme?lost_in_wonder wrote:well my father got his british citizenship by naturalisation around 1997 in Hong Kong... it was after i was born... I was in hong kong at that time with him but ive only come to UK now 6 years ago for studies... Does it help or not really???

You don't give enough information to even make a guess.
