A repeat question maybe?

Hi,

This seems like a repeat question but i have looked across the board with no specific query or answer to it so decided to raise it.

I hold a Residence Permit which came about on renewal of my work permit valid for a couple years. Query is, does this double as a visa or a separate UK visa is needed if i wish to travel outside of UK and then re-enter (mostly on holiday trips, about a week or two). The reason for the query is because the new stamp does not mention any thing about entry viz., multiple entry etc.. and also says "Limited leave to Remain".

Especially since the previous stamp of entry clearance mentioned multiple entry.

You have "continuing leave" until the date of expiry of your residence permit. You don't have to get another visa.

Non-lapsing leave

20A. Leave to enter or remain in the United Kingdom will usually lapse on the holder going to a country or territory outside the common travel area. However, under article 13 of the Immigration (Leave to Enter and Remain) Order 2000 such leave will not lapse where it was given for a period exceeding six months or where it was conferred by means of an entry clearance (other than a visit visa).
