Help on time to unmarried partner enter UK

Post by popcola » Fri Jan 07, 2005 12:56 am

Hi all!

After I get my HSMP approved, I'm planning to go alone to UK, even though I applied with my unmarried partner, because she has to finish her post-graduation course... So I have the following situation:

1. Should we apply for EC together, considering that she'll be able to go 3 months after me to stay a couple of weeks (her hollidays), and she'll only be able to stay "forever" with me after almost a year ? Would her dependant visa be valid throughout this period ?

2. After she enters UK, how long she needs to stay there before she can exit, and how long can she be out of the country?

3. If her visa expires in this situation, what do you suggest ? We really want to stay together in UK, but we don't want her to quit her course...

Thanks for everybody sharing experience and knowledge over here! Hopefully I'll be able to contribute soon!

you could try to apply at the same time especially if you take into account the fact that she will be coming with you initially. the one problem i have with applying after a year is that seeing that you are unmarried it might be very difficult to prove that you are a couple especially when you look at the fact that you will now be staying in two different countries. depending on which country you will be applying from it might different but i know in some countries its hard enough to get a visa even when one is married
