English language for FLRm

Post by SAMISPOUSAL » Tue Jun 07, 2016 3:38 pm

My wife passed her IELTS exam in NOV 2013 in India. speaking 5.0 listening 4.5 ( on CEFR is that B1 level ? is that higher than A2 )
That cert was accepted to get the spouse entry clearance visa. Now in November 2016 we will need to apply for FLRm.
Home office today told me EXPLICITLY and repeatedly that we shall be able to use that same IELTS certificate for the FLRm in November 2016 even though it will be 3 years old and even if if if that pass mark was lower than A2, becauase it was accepted the first time around and FLRm is still part of the same continuous visa route..
she referred to page 42 note 3 of the FLRm appln to verify that information..

so has anyone else had this same experience ? of using the same IELTS cert which was accepted once that is 3 years old ?

My wife has A1 ESOL exam cert in Jan 2015 but we have been told not to use that because ESOL is no longer accepted by them. has anyone had any English Language probs ? please share your experience.
how to contact IELTS ? Please advise
Thanks

The UKVI 'help line' staff are notorious for giving incorrect information even on the most basic of immigration matters and take no responsibility for doing so. A2 level English will be required for FLR(M) applications from October 2016.
Here's an example:

Here's an updated list of tests/test providers

Our Casa
thank you for polite reply. When people like you reply with correct information and remove our wrong understanding it really does help.
so why cant we use the IELTS certificate (dated November 2013 which was used to get Entry C Visa) again for FLRm 3 years later in Nov 2016? Is that because the IELTS cert CLEARLY says it is recommended to reassess after two years ?(HO deem it to expire after two years)? OR IS IT BECAUSE IT COUNTS AS lower than A2
Is it ever possible to use the same certificate again? when?

All please reply with your understanding
Thank you

Have you checked whether it is below A2 level? If so, it won't be accepted. I would say that judging by posts on the forum even the case workers seem to be unclear, which is why it's often wise to submit a test on the approved list to err on the side of caution. Others may have more to add on the issue.
