Long Term Residency - The Letter

Post by andy_chris02 » Wed Jan 16, 2008 7:58 pm

Hi,

I have been here for 6 years now on a work permit and I went down to the GNIB to get my new card yesterday and I was told by the person who served me that I could apply for Long Term Residency and also apply for a passport. I have already filled out the forms for Naturalisation and I am going to submit them in the next couple of weeks, but I thought I'd apply for long term residency as well.

The only thing that has got me a bit stumped is the fact that I have to write a letter, which is fine, but I have no clue what I have to put in it. Do I state that I have been here for the required time and stuff like that or do I state that I want to apply for long term residency and why?

I have all the other requirements, the stamps in my passport, the work permits, the GNIB card and such, it's just what to put in the letter.

Any help / advice would be appreciated.

Thanks for your time.

Did they actually volunteer this information at the GNIB? If they did I would be quite surprised, I must admit.

Yep, I was talking to the person behind the counter and the manager (i think he was a manager anyway) came up and started explaining what I could do, he was pretty helpful to be honest.

Thanks for the link, just got to figure out what to write for the covering letter.
