Do I need to hold PR for 12 months?

Post by fox349 » Thu Aug 11, 2016 10:15 pm

Could someone please advise on the following, I recently acquired PR document, I provided evidence from 2010 to 2015. Do you reckon I can make my citizenship application or do I need to wait 12 months.

I don't want to make an application unless I'm 100% sure as its an expensive fee with no refunds.

Your don't need to wait 12 months from the date your PR card was issued. It's 12 months from the date you acquired PR automatically after 5 years of exercising Treaty rights. What date was that in 2015?

Check with a SAR or via NCS what automatic PR acquisition date they have recorded for you; if it's at least one year in the past you're good to go.

Many thanks for your feedback Casa and LilyLalilu .

I've sent them evidence between Jan 2010 and Dec 2015.

I was filling SAR form when I came across the following, they asking for solicitor to certify a copy of identity. I haven't got a solicitor and I'm sure they would charge quite a bit for their services. do you reckon I can just send the original documents?

[A] Identification? From the 11th July 2016 all requests for a standard Subject Access Request must include a copy of photo identification which must also be certified by a solicitor with the words “I certify that this is a true likeness of Mr/Mrs/Miss/Ms [full name]” and include the name and signature of the solicitor making the declaration and the date the declaration was signed.
Copies of the following photo identification will be acceptable:

Hi,

My question is if a person after he's getting PR ( application done after 5 year living in UK ) has to wait for citizenship one year if he is married with a British Citizen?

Can apply after he is getting PR?

Thank you

Yes. If all other requirements met, including:
sound mind, good character, referees, residence, absences, physical presence, LITUK, English (& etc etc)
