Hello everyone
This is my first post, thanks to everyone for so helpful place. Ok here it goes...
My wife is slovak, I am peruvian, we both are living in Peru. We will move to Slovakia and have already made plans for travelling around 18th february. Everything was perfect, all documents in order, and yesterday we called to the slovak embassy in Argentina (which is the slovak embassy for consular matters for Peru and other southamerican countries) and they told us that the consul is not available until 14th february due license (maybe she's on vacations or I don't know). That means that during one month, no-one can apply for a visa for Slovakia in that embassy.
We were shocked because we already made plans and actually there's a job opportunity by that time. So now we're schocked and don't know what to do. So my questions are
1) Do you think it's possible under those circumstances to apply in another slovak embassy?. In southamerica there are just two slovak embassies, one in Argentina and another in Brazil. Do you think is possible to apply in Brazil despite they do not have consular competence over Peru?
2) When we spoke in december with the slovak consul, she told us she would give me a TOURIST visa for three months, which then I could change for the resident permit in Slovakia. Is this OK?. I was expecting a Visa Type" "D" in this case and not a "tourist visa"?
3) In case the Slovak embassy in Brazil does not want to give me a Visa (because of the consular competence), do you think I should try a Schengen tourist visa for 3 months in another EU country embassy in Peru? (and then apply for the residence permit in Slovakia?).
4) In case the Slovak embassy in Brazil grant me the slovak visa, and this visa is from the type "D". This visa would be just for Slovakia or I can ask for all Schengen States (I plan to go to a concert in Paris by march)?
Thanks a lot for your answers!
David.
