Visa required for spouse for travel within EU?

Post by rs1 » Fri Jan 25, 2008 1:17 pm

Hi,

I am a UK citizen and my wife is an Indian citizen. She has just received the two year spouse visa. If we wanted to go to France or any other country within the EU, would she require any further visas from that country, or can she travel with me as a family member without the need for any further visa?

Thanks for your help

Thanks for your reply. I did try and search but could not yet find anything directly related to the question I asked. If you point me to the right thread that would be very helpful.

Thanks

Yes your wife requires a Schengen visa to travel,it shall be granted free of charge and through an accelerated proceedure. You would need to provide your British passport and original marriage certificate, best consulates to apply:French and Netherlands. You would be travelling under the auspices of Directive 2004/38/EC,kindly google that for more information.

G'luck dude.

If I understand correctly, as we live in London we need to make an appointment and cannot apply by post.

However, as per the automated service the first available appointment date is in 33 days (we had wanted to visit France in 2 weeks).

Is there any way we can get a visa within the next two weeks?

Your help is much appreciated.

Best regards

Hello mate

Understanding that time is a factor here and supposing you have the stomach for it and understand this through and through, you can travel to France and get an entry stamp for your wife at the border.

Read Page 25(3.11 and 3.12)
http://ec.europa.eu/justice_home/doc_ce ... 6_F_en.pdf

Aletrnatively try any of the other Schengen consulates.G'luck matey.
