Citizenship - continuous residency in last 12months

Post by keved » Wed Jan 30, 2008 6:54 pm

Hi all,

Couple of questions for anyone that can help -
1) Partner has applied for natuarlisation, due to delays in work permit issuing, and the dept saying at the time that getting a stamp to cover him was not necessary, we are worried that we may have fallen down on the continuous residency... but there might be a ray of hope... checked through his passport and noticed that came through Cork airport and received stamp on 10 Feb 2007 which would bring him up to day of work permit stamp renewal in passport. Is this stamp covering him during this period. I can't tell fromthe print what it says... but at the very least could we argue that if it was taken as a visitor stamp, he would have 90 days?

2) - Is it possible to leave the country for an extended period of time, albeit with the intention of returning, whilst citizenship application is being processed??? Considering we have 3 feckin years!?!!

Thanks guys
