Please help--new job title that doesn't exist in SOC code

Post by moonbeam22 » Fri Dec 16, 2016 9:44 am

Hello,

I need help with clarification of job title in SOC code. I am currently on a Tier 2 visa as Account Manager under SOC code 2473. However, my employer wants to list my job title as "Relationships Manager" on the company website. All of my business cards, etc., say Account Manager so I am not sure why he wants to do this.

The job title "Relationships Manager" does not exist in the current SOC code list except under the financial bracket. Obviously, I am not in that role.

Is this an issue for my visa? If so, is there any documentation I can present to my employer showing them that I MUST be listed under my actual SOC code job title?

Thank you very much for your help.

The SOC code chosen must be the one that is the CLOSEST to what the description and responsibilities of the job are. Don't get obsessed so much with the job titles - look at all the descriptions possible and choose the one that is closest to your job. A 100% match is rare, but the closest one in terms of responsibilities should be easy to spot.
