European Away From Europe For Years

Post by hch » Fri Feb 04, 2005 10:21 pm

 I'm a European Passport holder, but have been in America for seven years without visiting Europe. I am considering emmigrating to Ireland or New Zealand. I am not Irish either. Do I need a visa being an European? And even if I do not as it is read in the media; what is the new European process to live and work in Ireland? Should I begin procedure from America? Thanks.

hch, you say you have a European passport .... but which country?

If the country is part of the EU or EEA or is Switzerland, you have a total right to live and work in Ireland, or indeed any other EU or EEA country ... or indeed Switzerland. Without needing a visa. Your time living in the USA is irrelevant.
