Previous earnings - Taxable Pay or Total Pay

Post by jagankumar » Fri Feb 08, 2008 12:12 pm

Hi Friends,
Would be thankful if someone help me to sort it out the confusion which I have regarding the previous earnings section.
Right now am working in UK under workpermit visa category. My wageslips were in UK standard format.
My salary as per my wageslips

Basic Pay :£1157.22
Subsistence All : £450.00

Taxable Pay :£1157.22
Non Taxable Pay : £450.00

Total Pay :£1607.22

Deductions :£215.97

Net Pay :£1391.25

Here for HSMP Previous earnings do I need to consider My Taxable Pay (£1157.22) or my Total Pay (£1607.22)
Can any one clarify me please. Am planning to apply on Monday.

Thanks in advance

Hmm..What is the meaning of "Non Taxable pay"???I think what ever you earn in Taxable...
AS for HSMP,your Gross amount is taken into considreation..But i am not sure what is your Gross Amount here...Ask your employer if they are paying NI and IT on which "Gross" salary, that will clarify the issue...

Hi, thanks for ur reply.
Juz now contacted my employer regarding this.
Employer says, Total Pay(Taxable pay + Non Taxable Pay) is calculated for gross salary.
Yes. We are paying NI and Tax from my salary that is called my deductions.

Could you please help me which one to consider?

I would say Take Gross Salary/Total pay...But mind you ,you need to submit all genunie salary slips along with NI deductions and IT figures on Salarly slip along with P60...So if u have salary slips in order, u r good to go..

It would be gross pay always, where
GROSS PAY = TAXABLE PAY + TAX FREE ALLOWANCE

Note: this tax free allowance should be declared on your pay slip.
