Can i work and stay?

Post by mvohras » Fri Feb 08, 2008 6:00 pm

Hi, I am working on Science and engineering visa which ends on 8 feb 08.
my company applied for work permit but meanwhile i also applied to HSMP.
my HSMP consultant send the FLR-hsmp application along passport first before my leave expire to secure my work status and meanwhile we are collecting documents for HSMP submission.
just want to know is that legal to do so(not over stay) and can i work till i submit hsmp(stage 1) later. is there any buffer period for that? Thanks

Did your consultant send the FLR for HSMP before the actual HSMP submission itself?

If a FLR application was sent before expiry of current leave, your conditions are carried over. As your conditions are that you can only work 20hours term-time and no restrictions during the holidays and you are not in either period, I wouldn't think that you can work.

But your leave is treated as continuing till you hear from the home office.

Thanks paulp for reply. My consultant sent the FLR before leave expire.
As you said i can preserve my status thats mean i can work.
I am on SEGS visa which allow full time working and no concern with student limitation.
Apply FLR before leave remains my status of working till i hear from home office..please confirm?
Thanks again.

Hi,

Yeah, sorry I didn't see that you were on IGS. I would think that you can keep working but I would await confirmation from one of the gurus on this board.
