Mine was applied for (through a solicitor) on Jan 4th 2008, and issued on Jan 21st. It's possible that this is a little slower than the norm, since they were probably still dealing with the Christmas backlog, but I have no way to know whether or not that's true. In any event, it was pretty painless once I had provided all the relevant docs to the solicitor.

Processing times may vary on a case by case basis.

I can understand if the documents etc are incomplete OR if the home office has some queries they may do some checks.. but other than that.. is there a factor that can delay the processing..??

Thanks in advance

You said it yourself, the caseworker may decide to do some routine checks, etc. Who knows what else goes on in a big bureaucratic place like the BIA? There's also the odd lost or misplaced file, etc.
