Remain in UK under HSMP with expired Passp

Post by ilive » Sun Feb 24, 2008 1:10 pm

If I got 3 years HSMP extension and my passport will expire after 2 years, Can I remain in UK in the last year with the expired passport without problems?

I'll not intend to travel out UK in this duration.

And I may face problems to renew the expired passport especially in this year, but I can renew it after that

I'd appreciate to hear your answers

Specifying which country's passport you hold would be of help in order to provide more detailed feedback.

Not really.
IN any case, go get a new passport

It would.
e.g. if we're talking about Indian passport, then it can be extened 1 year before it's expiry date (in this kind of situation) in which case he/she could get the passport renewed before the current one expires.

We had the same scenario.. It's fine.. You can also travel, as long as you bring your old passport with your new one, so that you can show the visa upon your return to the UK.

Thanks for all of your replies
I’m talking about Egyptian Passport.
At this time I’ll have 29 years old and I may face problems due to military status.
I should wait to be 30 so I can get Full Exemption and got the new passport from Egyptian Consulate in London directly.
but to renew the passport while I’m 29 ,I’ve to travel to Egypt to do that which will cost me a lot and I may lose my job in UK
