UK Tourist Visa - Six Months or Three Months now?

Post by desperado » Tue Feb 26, 2008 12:16 pm

Hello All,

I have heared that UK Tourist visa is going to be Three Months only from 1st March 2008. My parents heared it on TV News in South India.

Is it true? I thought the consulation period is until 10th March 2008?

How could they introduce three months visa before the consulation period is over?

Vinny, I have already seen it. It is VERY clear the consulation period is until 10th March 2008 and results will be published within three months. I already know all those details.

What I'm asking is why did the TV News in South India (chennai to be precise) released the news saying Visa will only be issued for three from 1st March 2008 (10 days before the consultation period is over)

Can they do that? Have anyone heared anything about it?

I don't mean to be harsh, bow would any one here know why a news channel in south of India release this info??

Best to ask the authorities at the channel itself...

olisun, Sorry I didn't make my question clear. It should read something like below.

What I'm asking is why did the TV News in South India (chennai to be precise) released the news saying Visa will only be issued for three from 1st March 2008 = There is no smoke without fire. Why would TV news say visa is only for 3 months if they don't have some kind of info? So there must be something happening. Isn't?

Can they do that? = Can British Consulate start issuing tourist visa's only for three months before the consulation period is over?

Have anyone heared anything about it? = have anyone heared about visa's being issued only for 3 months by british consulate starting 1st of march?

So you see I did not mean to ask anything about TV station in south india. I was after the actual news. Is it three months visa as of 1st march 2008?

Besides there are lots of people on this message board who are from south india. They have friends & relatives back home. They might have checked with them after seeing this post. This would affect all those who apply for tourist visa.

The Web has made this beautiful blue planet small my friend! So even my question might not have been about TV station in india there are ppl from south india who might have seen the news!

They can issue visas for any period they want to, even single entry one day visas if they feel like it.

They have always had that power.

The TV station is just getting confused/misreporting.

That's true, but the "default" period is six months. As far as I know that is still the case, for now at least.
