Director Of A Ltd Company or Self Employed

Post by JMB » Tue Aug 08, 2017 2:53 pm

I am sponsoring my Australian wife to move to the UK.

I am the sole director of a Limited Company but once I choose the option that I am a company director I get questions such as;

Was your sponsor self employed on the date of this application?
How long has your sponsor been self employed?
Is your sponsor registered as self employed in the UK with the HMRC?

Obviously I am not self employed in a business sense but the way the application reads, it seems as though I have to state that I am as there is no other option.

Does self employed in this instance mean in the business sense or in the sense that I own my own company therefore I am responsible for my employment?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

UKVI are bit thick on types of employment, but essentially they consider one-man director/employee companies as self-employed, even though legally they aren't.

Thank you!
So I have been self employed from the date of incorporation of the company?
And I would be classed as registered self employed with the HMRC even though I am an employee of a Ltd company albeit my own?
