My husband just divorced me..plz help

Hi everyone :?

Could you please advice me on my situation, I will be very garteful. Yesterday I received a paper from the court saying that the judge is satisfied and the divorce will be pronounced the 27 of March.

Am a non EEA member and my 5 years work permit expires in 2011, me and my husband lived one year together and 2 years in separate accomodatgion, I currently have his wages slips for the period that we lived togther. We always have been in emplyoment since we got married in 2004.

will I need a good lawyer?

Am I going to loose my work permit? what must I do now?

Please help and thank you very much for your time and for giving intrest to my enquiry.

Hello Wanderer,

Thank you very much for your prompt response, am a little bit worried about loosing my 5 years visa, I dont know whether I should inform the homeoffice or not!!!??


Will the home office ask me to provided more prove of cohabitation if I can remain here. I have never been on any kind of benefit and my ex-husband still working here.

Something doesn't smell right here?

Do you have a WP or a EEA residence permit that allows you to work as well?

Now suspect, you are (or was) the non-EEA spouse of an EEA national, am I right?

sorry Wanderer, its actually a residence permit stamp, and i have a letter with it as well..

This is a difficult one, I think the rule is if u've been married for three years, you residency is safe even after divorce.

The fly in the ointment is it seems u separated for two years prior to divorce, so really in my opinion you should have left the UK/EU then.

Hi again and thank you very very much for your reply. I just want to add a few things maybe it will help understood my case...

Our divorced is based on an unreasonale behaviour..just a reminder, I got married in June 2004 and my ex husband started divorce procedures in January 2008. which mean our marriage lasted for more than 3 years. but I dont have enough proves from my husband to show to the homeoffce, all I have is some wage slips of one year when he used to live with me. but we were always together it's just that we lived in different places in the same town.

Hope that helps for anyone who could give me a small peice of advice please.

So you got ur RP in 2007, lived in UK on that permit since then?

Prior to that - where did u live? Where are you and ur husband from originally?
