Stopped at Immigration Counter in Oslo , please help

Post by ice_breaker » Thu Sep 07, 2017 9:18 pm

Hi there,

I hold Temporary Norwegian Residence Card through my wife which expires in APR 2018 , on Tuesday 5th Sept, I was travelling from Oslo. Joined the EU line for Immigration counter. The officer at the counter briefly looked at the stamps of IN and OUT on passport and roughly calculated the date I was out of Norway. She said I have been out of Norway more than 3 months and that is not allowed. She held my Passport, Norwegian ID and boarding pass. Manager was called in and he took me to his office. All he did was made copies of my passport, Norwegian ID and boarding pass and asked when I plan to come back. I said in 30 days and I already have a return ticket for that. He then stamped my passport and said its ok to leave now. Since the boarding was gonna start soon I went to the departure gate.

my question is
1. Is it gonna be a problem at immigration counter when I come back in October ? Do they have right to refuse the entry to Norway!!
2. upon renewal of Norwegian Residence Permit, I know I will have problem as it will be like 4-5 months I have been out of Norway. Could the medical reason will help in this matter?

Have anyone else have been into similar situation? Please advise

Thanks.

Would help if you could say what kind of residence card?, on what basis was it issued, was in under EEA law or norwegian domestic law.

OK thanks, As long as the conditions of the the residence card being issued is still valid, you need not worry about refusal of entry when you do come back. However if in the future if you do apply for PR/citizenship based on family ties, you might have a break, the accepted break with valid reasons (including medical) is I believe 12 months. You can check of course on udi.no for the exact numbers.
