I am a spouse of a British citizen. We have been married for 8 years but lived outside UK so far. We are considering a move to UK. I understand that since we have been married more than 4 years I will be granted the indefinite leave to remain fairly quickly, and once we are settled in UK, I can apply for citizenship in 3 years. I see one of the conditions for applying citizenship is that you must meet the residential requirement and cannot be absent from UK for more than 270 days in those 3 years. Does that apply only to the applicant (myself) or the British spouse as well? I would have no problem meeting the requirement, buy my husband will be constantly travelling abroad and he might be away 6 months out of a year. Does that disqualify my application? Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you.
