Attending university on HSMP visa?

What are the rules for attending university on a HSMP visa? I will be attending City University this coming autumn, but want to be in the UK under the HSMP visa scheme.

I plan to work during my studies and the HSMP visa is the first step in my eventual goal to become a UK citizen. I want the option of working more than 20 hours per week that the student visa allows. Also, I will be older than 27 after finishing studies (and may not be earning a very high income as a student) so I won't be approved for the HSMP visa if I wait until after I graduate.

Does anyone know the rules of attending university on the HSMP visa? Thanks!

Don't have the answer to this sorry, but am looking for similar information myself:

I need to know whether I am allowed to spend a year studying for a Masters in the UK under an HSMP / Tier 1 visa.

I am currently working in the UK under an HSMP visa, which I could extend (FLTR) before the commencement of the studies. I would prefer this to the Post Study Work scheme because I want my time in the UK to count towards residency (the Post Study Work Scheme does not).

You might get sponsorship but you won't get any help from the State.
